Kick-off Message
Submitted By Tara Gallant on Tuesday, October 6, 2020
Welcome, I hope you are ready and as excited to get safely out to Erickson Arena to kick-off an interesting and challenging Ringette season as I am! We are celebrating our 40th year offering the Community our fast-paced sport and we sure are kicking it off with a BANG!!!

I know there has been a lot of communications and information that keeps adjusting and changing.  These are the interesting times we live in.  With that said, I will share the most up-to-date information I have.

Chatham Ringette has been mandated by Ringette Ontario and Ringette Canada to track our participants through an app and complete contact tracing.  We have had to designate a Covid-19 Safety Leader and I gratefully thank Nadeane Brull for stepping forward to fill this role.  She will be collecting all our Covid-19 data and reporting it to Ringette Ontario each week.  Each ice time will have a designate that will help with check-in at the Arena.  The Municipality will have a Waiver that needs to be signed each time.  Here is a link to the COVID_19_SCREENING_2020 for you to print off and fill out at home to bring with you to help speed things along.  You can also find it on our website under Covid-19 information. There will be some at the arena if you do not have the ability to print one off or if you forget yours at home.

Before coming to the Arena, you will be required to, prior to 48 hours for your ice time, check-in with your team on the TeamSnap app.  You can download this on your phone or go to the website on your computer.  Next, in the 8 hours before your ice time you will need to check-in with the TeamSnap app to fill out a Symptoms assessment.  If these (2) requirements are not completed, unfortunately we will not be able to allow you to join in that day.

Masks are Mandatory in all Chatham Kent arenas. Parents must always wear a mask while inside the arena, even when seated in the stands.

Once these things have been completed, with your player fully dressed and masked the player may enter with (1) parent/guardian only (there are no siblings allowed and Parent/Guardian must remain in the building for the duration of the scheduled time) and skates can be put on and tied along the hall bench for LTS and then the Parent/Guardian will social distance in the stands taking the equipment, shoes, coat, etc. with them and leaving the skater seated on the bench with their helmet on.  Players may only remove their mask when it is time to put their helmet on.  The doors will be locked 5-10 minutes after the scheduled ice time for the 50 minutes that players are at the rink so please try to be on time.  The Instructors will escort them to the ice surface and the program will run.  Once completed, the skater will exit to the ice surface door on the Spectator's side. Upon removing their helmet, they must put their mask back on and exit out the door through the stands at the end of the Arena.  This will be clearly marked.

For the other Divisions, after checking in fully dressed and masked you can proceed to one of the (2) designated Dressing Rooms and social distance and lace-up.  Parent/Guardian is required to move to the Spectator's area.  If the skater needs assistance to tie their skates, one of the Coach/Volunteers will assist but for these players it is highly recommended that they come with skates on and use skate guards.  Players are to wait in the Dressing Room until the group before them leaves the rink and exit down the hall and through the Spectator's area and out the far door.  Masks are only to be removed at the time that helmets are put on.  Then participants will enter the rink area.  There is no water fountain available so you will need to bring your own full water bottle, clearly labelled.  The Restrooms in the Dressing areas are also closed.

Yours,Margie Van OirschotChatham Ringette Chairperson/Registrar
